The Bishop’s Visit

Published on October 04th 2017 by LMNS

The Bishop, Michael Burrows, came to visit our school on September 26th 2017. This was part of his Route 66 trip. He spoke on a different book of the Bible at each place he visited. He visited 66 places in total.

When he came to our school he spoke on 2 Thessalonians, he spoke about being idle and the importance of working hard while we were able to. He told that many women in Africa would love to have more time to learn like us and he explained that his Route 66 tour was a fundraising effort to provide Literacy lessons for women in Africa.

We followed him to the Cathedral where he spoke from 1 Timothy. He explained that being a Bishop was an important role. He then explained that many Bishops in Africa encourage their wives to have an input in their ministry.

It was interesting for us to hear the verses from the Bible explained to us. We wish the Bishop all the best in his fundraising efforts and hope that the women whom it supports will benefit from the Literacy lessons.

Liosmór Mochuda National School is a mixed two-teacher school in Lismore, Co. Waterford under the Patronage of the Church of Ireland. It is nestled at the top of North Mall between the historic St. Carthages Cathedral and the Deanery.
