Cotton Library Visit

Published on March 23rd 2018 by LMNS

We recently went to the Cotton Library. The Dean showed us around the library and explained how Henry Cotton had set up and sourced books for the Library. We were very interested in some of the older books and were amazed by how well some of the paper had lasted over the years. We also say tiny scrolls with verses on them; the Dean had to lift these out of a box very carefully. The even got to see the old lock and key for the Great West Door; it was massive. Inside a trunk we saw the church baptismal records and some of us found our names in the book. We enjoyed looking at the painted stones that were found during church renovations. All-in-all it was an interested and information filled visit. Thank you Dean Draper.
